1. Small Budget Lighting Ideas
I just love pendant lights! They look great over the kitchen island with those warm frosty light. Moreover, it creates a calming effect when you are preparing your favorite dishes. Just imagine that! Of course, pendant lights could be expensive to very expensive but you could choose a normal hanging bulb and align them across your kitchen island. How many lights over a kitchen island? Try 2 to 3 hanging lights. You do not want to overdo it as it will turn out to be very bright. Besides, it takes you a maximum of 20 minutes to install them by yourself.
2. Bring in the Old Furniture
Look out for any old dresser, table, or bookshelves that you could turn them into a kitchen island. If you have a bigger one, that would be even better providing that you have enough space. Incorporate a butcher block on top of the table. Furthermore, add functionality to it by installing a rail at the side for hanging your mugs. Voila, you have your own kitchen island/table! Along with open shelves, you could opt for the ceiling pot and pan rack. The whole idea is to free up more spaces at your kitchen making it look more spacious. Besides that, I prefer a minimalist kitchen style. How about you?
8. Decorate Your Window with a Small Budget Valance
Add a beautiful look to the top of your window by using a valance. They could relatively also block the sunshine if it is too bright.
9. Flowers or Succulents?
Both! I love them. Plants are great for the final touch of your kitchen. Go out and grab some pretty fresh flowers and decorate your kitchen window, countertop or even at the kitchen island. Otherwise, if you are a fan of artificial plants, you could try getting them too.
10. Wall Painting or Wallpaper?
So you have been wondering what to do with the walls? Paint or wallpaper? Definitely paint is cheaper than wallpaper. However, wallpaper has a long shelf life whereas paint needs to be repainted every 3-5 years. The choice is yours depending on the budget too. On another note, I prefer wallpaper as it would add on an exquisite touch to the kitchen.
